Preparatory meeting for the establishment of the Alumni Association held in Bangkok, Thailand

Saga University held a preparatory meeting for the establishment of the Thai Alumni Association of International Students in Bangkok, Thailand on February 4, 2023.

The University has been establishing alumni associations in the countries concerned in order to maintain and strengthen the network between former international students who are now active as researchers, educators, and business people after graduation and those related to the University, as well as to strengthen friendly relations with the countries concerned through these activities.

Saga University alumni associations have already been established in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Bangladesh, and now a meeting has been held to discuss the establishment of an official alumni association in Thailand.

The meeting was attended by eight former international students and five members of the university. After Vice President Nobuo Mishima read the President’s greeting and reported on trends in international exchange at Saga University, discussions and exchange of opinions were held regarding the establishment of an official alumni association and the election of officers for the alumni association.

Saga University has concluded university exchange agreements with five universities in Thailand and has accepted more than 100 international students to date. Former international students have since returned to their home countries and are active in a variety of fields, including as researchers. In order to maintain and deepen the network in Thailand and to accept more international students, further cooperation between the Thai alumni associations and Saga University is expected.
